The American Dream
I think the American Dream is the dream that people from all different religions, cultures, and countries can live in the same country with the same opportunity of success. I also think it means that everyone has the same fair chance to make their own lives however they want them to be.

The American Dream according to Dictionary.com:
The ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American. |
I do not actually know that much about my family's history. I know about maybe one or two great-great grandparents' names, but that is the extent of my knowledge of my family history. I've heard a few stories that were very interesting from my grandmother, who knows probably the most history of all in the family. My grandmother told us a story about one of our great-great (however long it is) grandfather was a British soldier but changed to the American side and changed his name. She also told us that Eli Whitney, who is famous for inventing the cotton gin, is one of our ancestors.
I also have been told by my grandmother that I am related to Rebecca Nurse, who was executed during the Salem Witch Trials. We know this for sure because a cousin of ours was able to do all the genealogy and prove that they are.
Family History has always kind of interested me, because it is exciting to learn where you come from. My grandma, on my mother's side, has told me that most of our family is from Germany or Switzerland. My last name, Seegmiller, is German and that's where most of my father's side is from.
I think my family tree could represent the American Dream, in the fact that they came to America at some point and were able to experience the ideals of freedom and opportunity to become what they wanted to and have the freedom to make the choices to lead them there.

I, with the help of my grandmother's genealogy, have put together a family tree. I was surprised to find that I am related to several famous people such as Eli Whitney, Rebecca Nurse. I have also found several other ancestors, who are less known, but in their own way have completed their "American Dream".
